Screencasts

I have used screencast on my Mac multiple times and have helped others in my building learn to use screencast as well, but for my students I do not use my computer I actually use my iPad. It is the same thing as a screencast with a blank page and me writing. I have used aps like Doceri, Explain Everything, and iMovie with recordings. I have a flipped classroom so I use a "screencast" using Explain Everything for each of my lessons. I attached one of my videos below. I have also posted a link to my website where I keep all of my videos for my students as well.

Animoto

Here is my Animoto project about my classroom. You will see that I have flipped my classroom and am now in the iPad Academy! Lots of new things this year that I am trying and it really is a blast learning new things and seeing how much my students are benefitting from multimedia in the classroom.

Animoto would be a great tool in the classroom to use as an introduction to new topics, review of topics, or even to have your students create one to show what they learned on a topic. Very easy and fun way to put things together. It is very easy to use so students would have no problems. Endless possibilities with a site like this!

Introduction

Hi. My name is Chelsea Hoglund and I am in my 5th year of teaching high school math. I currently teach at Bellevue East High School in Bellevue, Nebraska. This is my 2nd year at Bellevue East. My first three years of teaching I taught in Lincoln, Nebraska at Lincoln North Star. I have taught Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra (Algebra II) and Algebra Support. I am currently teaching 5 sections of Algebra, two of which are Basic Algebra and one is cotaught Algebra. I also coach basketball and soccer at Bellevue East. I was born and raised in Hastings, Nebraska and went to Hastings College for my undergrad. I played soccer for Hastings. This year I have flipped my classroom so that is a new challenge and is very different from the previous four years of my teaching career. It has a lot of challenges, but also has a lot of rewards. It is a lot of work the first year, but I can see the improvement in my students. This last semester I have also been chosen to participate in the iPad Academy through my district so I have a cart of iPads that I use with one of my Algebra classes. It is so fun to learn and try all new things and I really feel like I am improving as a teacher each and every day!

I am a Mac person always have been and always will be. I am very comfortable with technology and use it on a daily basis in all of my classes. My district has great technology coordinators and I have learned so much in the last two years and have truly changed my teaching. I use twitter, secretive, kidblog, khan academy, iPads, iMovie, and so much more on a regular basis in my classroom.

I decided to pursue my degree at Peru State because I have always wanted to further my education. I truly believe a teacher so be constantly researching and learning and changing their teaching according to the students they have in their classroom. I never want to get too comfortable and I feel that getting my masters is just one step in that direction. After I get my degree I plan on getting another Master's degree in instructional coaching and I look to be an instructional coach in the future in the field of math.
